Bleak Hey Nook is a hamlet in the Pennine hills. It is situated on high ground at the head of Diggle Valley, and just beneath the summit of Close Moor. Although rural in character, for administartive purposes it is within Oldham Metropolitan Borough.

The summer sun was shining on the day I took these pictures. It was warm and pleasant. But it is easy to imagine that in winter, with a cold wind funnelling up the valley, the hamlet will live up to its name....bleak.
