A tomb in St Michael & All Angels, Macclesfield.

Macclesfield Parish church Inscription: Here lyeth the body of the Right Hon Thomas Earle Rivers, Visecount Colchester & Savage of Rocksavage, Baron Darcey of Chich, who died the 14th day of September 1694 at his house in Great Queen Street within ye Parish of S' Gyles in the Feilds in the County of Middlesex, & was here Interr'd the 14th day of October following. In the 67th year of his age.

He Married two Wives ye first was ye Lady Elizab'th Scrope one of ye three Coheires of the Right Hon'ble Emanuel Earle of Sunderland Baron Scrope of Bolton and lord President of ye Kings Councell in ye North. by whome he had Issue the Hon'ble Thomas Visecount Colchester dec'ed, who Married ye Lady Charlotte Stanley Eldest Daughter of the Right Hon'ble Charles Earle of derby Baron Stanley, Strange (of Knokyn) & Mohun. Lord of Man & ye Isles, but left noe issue Male And ye now right Hon'ble Richard Earle Rivers Viscount Colchester. & Savage of Rocksavage Barn Darcy of Chich, Lord Lieutenant of ye County Palatine of Chester as also Custos Rotulorum for yr said County Palatine, Lieutenant Generall of Korfe under his most Excellent Ma'tie King William ye 3d & Cap't of ye 3d Troop of Guards, & ye Ladys Elizabeth & Annabella Savage yet living with several other Children who dyed young. His second Wife was ye lady Arabella Berth Daughter of ye now Right Hon'ble Robert Eark of Lindsey Barron Willughby of Eresby Lord great Chamberlain of England Lord Lieutennant of ye county of Lincoln and Custos Rotulorum for the parts of Holland Kesteven and Lindsey in ye said County, & one of the Lords of His Majestyes most Hon'ble Privy Council. She survived him, and is now living but never had any issue.

This tomb was Erected in the Moneth of September 1696.
