What makes the old church unusual is that it is some distance from the nearest road. It can only be visited by crossing fields. This is probably why it retains the character of a church of a century ago, with its peaceful churchyard, and even a horse-drawn hearse still resting in a coach-house in the church grounds.
There are good views across the surrounding farm land, and some interesting gravestones in the churchyard including this one for John Griffies's The Sandstone Trail, a long distance footpath crossing Cheshire north to south, passes the church gate.
